The promoter is trying to change the fee after the contract is signed

What this means

This is one of the most frustrating situations a DJ can face — the classic “night wasn't busy, can you take less?” conversation that SoloFlo was built to help prevent.

What to do

Step 1 — Refer to the signed contract

Once a contract is signed, the agreed fee is legally binding. In SoloFlo, you can view and share the signed contract from your booking. The signed document shows the agreed amount, date, and terms — this is your evidence.

Step 2 — Don't agree verbally

Do not agree to a reduced fee verbally or via WhatsApp. Respond in writing (email is best) and reference the signed contract. “As per our signed agreement dated X, the agreed fee is £Y — I'm not able to change this.”

Step 3 — Use the Negotiation section

If you are open to discussing a revision, use SoloFlo's Negotiation tool to handle it formally — any counter-offer or agreement is documented in the platform, not buried in a message thread.

Step 4 — If they refuse to pay the agreed amount

If a promoter pays less than the agreed fee, this is a breach of contract. You may have legal options including small claims court for amounts under £10,000 in England and Wales. We recommend Citizens Advice or a specialist music industry lawyer for guidance on next steps.

What SoloFlo can't do

SoloFlo cannot enforce a contract on your behalf. We are not a legal service. However, the documentation SoloFlo provides — a signed contract with a timestamp, payment records, and correspondence — is valuable evidence if you ever need to pursue a claim.
